9 And although[a] the king was distressed, because of his oaths and his dinner guests[b] he commanded the request[c] to be granted. 10 And he sent orders[d] and[e] had John beheaded in the prison, 11 and his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it[f] to her mother.
